Today we’re going to review dual sim card android phone from LG and Samsung, the LG Optimus Net Dual P698 and Samsung Galaxy Y Duos GT-S6102. How the performance of the two dual sim card android phones? which one is better? and which one is worth to buy?

The Design

From the appearance both Samsung galaxy y duos and LG optimus net dual have similar looks. They both have typical android phones looks (large screen, no keyboard button, black colour,etc). Both phones have round ergonomic corner, which makes them quite comfortable to hold in hands. Only the different is that samsung have silver trim on that corner side, which makes this phone a bit more stylish than LG.

If you look closer at the bottom of the screen, the LG optimus net dual have more button than samsung galaxy y duos. LG optimus net dual have 4 button which is back button, home button, switch sim card button, and setting button. While samsung galaxy y duos only have 2 button which is menu and back button.

The Screen

LG optimus net dual have 0.86 inch larger screen than samsung galaxy y duos. The screen resolution are 320 x 480 pixels for LG optimus net P698 dual and 240 x 320 pixels for samsung galaxy y duos. LG also have higher pixel density with 180 ppi, while samsung only 127 ppi. Both LG and Samsung are capacitive-multi touch screen.

The Operating System

LG optimus net dual P698 comes with android gingerbread 2.3.4, while samsung galaxy y duos installed with android gingerbread 2.3.6 and touchwiz user interface. The user interface of LG optimus net dual are similar to other LG touch screen phones.

Both LG and Samsung, have 7 page of home screen which you can add widget or application shorcut to it.

To navigate in the home menu, for LG optimus net dual you have to swipe the screen up and down (vertical) and for samsung you have to swipe left and right (horizontal).

The Hardware

The CPU speed are not so different between Samsung and LG, both are using ARM processor. Samsung galaxy y duos are equip with 832 mhz processor while LG are using 800 mhz processor.

For the graphics (GPU), LG optimus net dual are using adreno 200 GPU, while samsung are using broadcom BCM2763 GPU.

LG optimus net dual are equip with 512 mb RAM, where in samsung galaxy y duos its only 384 mb of RAM (290 mb available to user).

From the hardware specifications above we can see that samsung galaxy y duos are slightly better than LG optimus net dual in terms of CPU. but for RAM, LG have bigger capacity.

The Camera

Samsung galaxy y duos and LG optimus net dual have the same resolution for the camera on the back which is 3.15 mega pixels, and also both are not equip with flash.

And also there’s no dedicated camera button on both phones, so you have to use the touch screen to take picture.

The photos quality are equal for both camera of LG optimus net dual and Samsung galaxy y duos, but for video recording samsung galaxy y duos are better.

It can produce QVGA video resolution at 24 frame per second, on the other hand LG optimus net dual can only produce VGA resolution at 15 frame per second.

The Benchmark

We do a little benchmark on samsung galaxy y duos and LG optimus net dual using antutu benchmark. And the result was clear, samsung galaxy y duos gets higher score with 1730 points, where LG optimus net dual only gets 918 points.

It seems like the processor and graphics of samsung galaxy y duos are much better than LG optimus net dual, even though LG have bigger RAM capacity.

The Conclusion

Samsung galaxy y duos are faster than LG optimus net dual as it shows on the benchmark score. But LG optimus net dual have larger screen and bigger RAM, it’s also have sim card button to switch between the two sim card. The price of both samsung and LG are not too different, if you want performance, go with samsung galaxy y duos. Other than that you can choose LG optimus net dual.
